A Walk Through the Aye Do Scottish Wedding Rituals

Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows what a Handfasting is! So, a few weeks ago I recorded some videos at the Lindores Abbey Distillery, to let my couples know a bit more about the different Scottish ceremony rituals, and to see how they can be included.
And I’m super pleased how they’ve turned out! They’re not perfect by any means, some of them are cheeeeesy af, and there are a few where I sound as if I’m talking gobbledygook, but apart from reading a passage for the Saut ritual, none of them are scripted. They were all done in the moment, almost all were done in just one take, and I think they’ve turned out fab! Hopefully they will give my 2024/25 couples an insight into some of the beautiful Scottish rituals, why we use them in ceremony and what that might look like in their ceremony 🙏
This one is a look at why we use rituals in ceremony, and I’ll be sending links out to all my couples soon 😍
A huge thank you to my colleagues, Gay at Gaynor Hogg Ceremonies and Jean at Makeavow for being my ‘couple”, and to Geoff from Watch the Birdie for capturing it all and to Lindores Abbey Distillery for letting us use their space, as well as their kindness in providing us with tea, coffee and a few wee drams!
