04 Aug A Sun-Kissed Celebration at Cardney Steading: Jamie & Ailie’s Wedding

Saturday took me to the stunning Cardney Steading for the wedding of Jamie & Ailie … and what a day it was!
It was one of those perfect Scottish days, blue skies, sunshine, and just enough breeze to keep the kilts twirling. I’d left super early (as always … my nightmare is being late!) and thank goodness I did, because there was an accident en route which held me up for an hour! But I arrived with time to spare, and heart rate only slightly elevated!
From the moment I stepped into the venue, the vibe was relaxed, joyful, and full of love. Ailie looked absolutely gorgeous, and the bridesmaids’ dresses were to die for. Jamie, however was a tad nervous and when Ailie took his hands during the ceremony, she couldn’t help but shout, “Your hands are so sweaty!” … a moment of genuine humour that had everyone in fits.
Then just as we were building to a poignant moment in the ceremony, the father of the bride’s phone went off! He was mortified, but again, it only added to the easy-going, joyful energy in the room. These are the stories that will be told for years to come!
Their handfasting ceremony was beautiful … a symbolic binding of their hands and lives, with cords chosen specially to reflect their journey together. Then came a truly special touch: they had a quaich ceremony, but instead of the traditional whisky, they filled the cup with firewater! Bold move, and very on brand for this fun-loving couple. Even better, all their guests had a quaich so everybody could take part in the blessing.
After the ceremony, the laughter continued as the whole wedding party made their way down to the loch for photos. I could see the love, joy, and energy ripple through the crowd like sunshine on the water.
Jamie & Ailie … thank you for trusting me with your ceremony. It was such a joy to be part of your day, and I know your marriage will be full of laughter, adventure… and the occasional spontaneous sip of firewater!
Until the next beautiful day
Lindy x
