13 Sep Lighting a Candle During Your Ceremony
Lighting a candle within a Ceremony is a beautiful way of kindling the presence of those who are missing or have passed, and it’s a ritual many couples choose to include.
However, if you are planning to light a candle in your ceremony, it’s a good idea to speak to the venue to make sure this will be ok. Many old/historical buildings will not allow open flames and I’ve heard of ceremonies where a panicked voice from the back shouted “You need to blow that out!” during a poignant moment of remembering loved ones.
At a ceremony I did a few days ago the staff were unaware there would be a candle, and although this is usually a big no no, they did allow the couple to light the candle but it had to be blown out immediately. However, if we had known about the restrictions, we could have created something different that would have allowed the presence of those who were missing to continue throughout the full ceremony.
So, if this is part of your plans, please make sure to ask your venue and then you don’t need to change or remove an important part of your ceremony.
